Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who reached Assam tour, has reached the famous Shaktipeeth Kamakhya temple in Guwahati today. He is accompanied by state CM Sarbananda Sonewal and Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma. Earlier, Amit Shah met Governor Jagdish Mukhi at the Raj Bhavan of Guwahati. Amit Shah has gone for a two-day tour to Assam. This is Amit Shah's first visit to Assam after the release of the final list of National Civil Register (NRC). Since the release of the final list of NRC, there is a lot of restlessness among the people of the state.

The names of about 19 lakh people are not included in this list. Amit Shah will attend the North East Council (NEC) meeting in Guwahati on this tour. In this, he will meet with the governors and chief ministers of eight states. Earlier this meeting was to be held on August 4, but it was postponed. On August 5, the central government decided to repeal Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, Amit Shah had to cancel the tour.

Let us tell you that the BJP is in power in Assam. Many state leaders including Himanta Viswa Sharma are not happy with the draft NRC. He has also expressed displeasure over it. In such a situation, this visit of Shah is very important. Amit Shah will review the ongoing development projects in the Northeast on his tour. With this, they can discuss the new system as well as the security system in the Northeast.
