Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Varanasi on Friday (December 16) at 4 pm. CM Yogi Adityanath will welcome him there. The Home Minister and the Chief Minister will attend the closing ceremony of the month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam. Apart from Home Minister Shah and CM Yogi, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy will also be present in the city. After a two-and-a-half-hour stay, Amit Shah will return to Delhi.

According to the district administration, Amit Shah will also address the people present at Kashi Tamil Sangamam. It is being told that he can visit the house of Mahakavi Subramaniam Bharti at Hanuman Ghat along with offering prayers to Shri Kashi Vishwanath and Baba Kalbhairav. Security agencies are taking extra precautions in view of the arrival of Amit Shah and CM Yogi. Police have been deployed from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to Varanasi International Airport.

In view of the arrival of VIPs, a route diversion system has been implemented in the city this evening. ADCP Traffic DK Puri said that as long as the VIPs will be present on the BHU campus, vehicles will not be able to pass towards Ramnagar, Front Ghat, Nagwan, Dafi, Ravidas Gate, and Naria towards BHU Gate. Traffic will be stopped 15 minutes before the arrival and departure of the VIP. Ambulances will be free from all restrictions. All passes will be canceled today. Traffic police personnel will leave their duty point only after the VIP leaves the city.
