New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is besieging the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on the issue of nationalism before voting on February 8 in the Delhi Assembly elections. Addressing a public meeting in Burari, Delhi on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah targeted Arvind Kejriwal by naming Kanhaiya Kumar and Omar Khalid, CPI leader and former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students' Union.

Amit Shah has said, "This Kanhaiya Kumar and Omar Khalid were put in jail by Modi Ji and when the time came to file the charge sheet, permission was required but it has been one and a half years and the Kejriwal government has not given permission yet." He further said, " I am tired of asking but will not allow it to be told or not.” Two months ago, in the first week of December, the Delhi High Court refused to give any instructions to the Arvind Kejriwal government in the sedition case of Kanhaiya Kumar.

A bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar had said that the court cannot give any direction to the government in this matter. The court had said that the government will decide itself according to rules, policy, and facts.
