SRINAGAR:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address a large public rally  in Baramulla, Jammu Kashmir, where he is likely to announce the regularisation of hundreds of daily wagers whose future has been in the lurch for more than three decades.

All security procedures are in place for Amit Shah public rally which is his first such programme in the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370.

Many people have already reached Baramulla to attend the rally from various locations, including Uri, Handwara, Tengdhar, Trehgam, and Baramulla. Shah is likely to announce the regularisation of hundreds of daily gamblers in J&K whose future is in limbo because successive governments in the state made promises to them about permanent jobs without any follow-through after he delivered a historic public speech in Rajouri on Tuesday where he assured reservations to the Pahari community of the UT.

On Tuesday, Shah chaired the core group meeting of the BJP where he said the party leaders to kick start for the Assembly elections which would be held soon. He urged the party leaders to spread the message of a new, progressive J&K to the electorate.

He said at a BJP core group meeting, "After the Centre done so much for every part of the local community, it is now the responsibility of the people to vote in huge numbers to strengthen democracy in J&K."

He will also officially open a number of construction initiatives, such as the hydraulic entry and exit gates of the spill channel in the renowned Hokersar wetland bird reserve.

He will also open the patients block at the sub-district hospital in Bijbehara and the transit accommodation (864 BHK) at Baba Daryadin in Ganderba, as well as 94 roads with a length of 580.92 km, 7 power transmission projects, a new sub-district hospital in the Hazratbal area of Srinagar City, 11 urban development projects in Kashmir Division, and 74 roads with a length of 434.37 km and 7 bridges.

In addition, before he departs for New Delhi in the late afternoon, he will preside over a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar.
