Kolkata: Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Thursday. His visit is considered to be very important for the electoral preparations of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and to increase the enthusiasm of the workers. In view of the assembly elections, Thakurnagar is considered to be very important in the politics of Bengal this time. Thakurnagar is considered a stronghold of the Matua community. This town is located just 15 kilometers from the border of Bangladesh.

Thakurnagar is so important that the people of this place, which are considered to be the stronghold of the Matua community, want that the Citizenship Act (CAA) should be implemented soon. With the implementation of this law, Hindu refugees who have been coming here from Bangladesh and have been living for years, who do not even have a permanent lease of land, will get citizenship of India.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the people of the Matua community had been assured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that Hindu refugees would soon be granted citizenship under the Citizenship Act. The Modi government, which reached the Lok Sabha for the second time with a strong majority, had also passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill i.e. CAB. The party's eye is on the vote of this community.
