MANIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Manipur on Friday, January 6, to inaugurate various projects worth Rs 300 crore. The projects include Olympian Park and the hoisting of the tri-colour at the INA headquarters. He will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects in Manipur today.

Shah will inaugurate the Churachandpur Medical College and Hospital, and unveil a 120-feet-high statue of a polo player riding a pony at Heingang Marjing Hill in Imphal East district. He  is also scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of various other projects at Chingei Lampak area in Bishnupur district.

The Union home minister will also hoist the national flag in Moirang locality in Bishnupur district, where Indian National Army soldiers had raised the tricolour on Indian soil for the first time.

The Olympic Park at Sangaithel hillock, Imphal West district, will be the first of its kind in the Northeast.  The park will also accommodate statues of any state sports persons participating in the Olympics in the future.

The Manipur government has beefed up security in the state prior to his visit. A no-fly zone for drones and UAVs was also announced near the areas where Shah will visit.
