MANDYA:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a mega-dairy built at a cost of Rs 260 crore in Mandya district of Karnataka on Friday, December 30.

Speaking in a public gathering after the inauguration, the Home Minister said that if Amul and Nandini work together jointly, in 3 years there will be primary diaries at every village level.

Lauding the growth of milk cooperatives in Karnataka, the Union minister said that the milk processing in the state has grown from 66,000 kilolitres in 1975 to 82 lakh kilolitres every day now. Then milk federation turnover has risen from 4 crore rupees in 1975 to 25000 crore rupees now.

He added that if Gujarat and Karnataka work together in this manner, it will be advantageous for farmers across the nation and that the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) will receive full technical support and collaboration from Amul.
The Union Minister declared that he is promising the nation's farmers and cooperative workers from the Mandya platform that his administration will not permit them to be taken advantage of or treated unfairly. "The Indian government decided to do this," he stated.

"Indian farmers had called for a separate ministry for the area of cooperation after the country gained independence. The future of farmers would be different today if someone had decided to separate it from the Ministry of Agriculture." Shah said that this demand was eventually met by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He underlined that the cooperative and dairy industries are where Karnataka leads the way.

Between 1975 and 2022, the state had gone a long way and advanced significantly.

Karnataka today processes 82 lakh kilo of milk, up from 66,000 kilo in 1975. According to him, approximately 80% of the federation's 25,000 crore annual revenue goes to farmers.
