Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that he is confident that the BJP will form the government in West Bengal after the upcoming assembly elections and after that, the Ganga Sagar Mela will be included in the international tourist circuit. He further said that the implementation of the 'Namami Gange' program started for cleaning the river Ganga will also be ensured in Bengal.

The Home Minister said that he feels sad to see the facilities here because lakhs of devotees come here every year. He said that when the BJP forms the government in Bengal, then all the tourism projects of the central government will be successfully implemented here. After offering prayers at the Kapil Muni temple here, he said that we will ensure that the Uttarayan Mela (Ganga Sagar Mela) becomes a part of the international tourist circuit, making this place a big tourist destination and its fame spread across the world.

Shah said that the Kapil Muni temple at the confluence of the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal is a symbol of spirituality and environmental protection. He said that PM Modi had started the 'Namami Gange' program in 2014 for the conservation and cleaning of the river Ganges from Gangotri to Sagar, but it gets 'stuck' when it reaches West Bengal. He also said, "I am confident that a BJP government will be formed in the state and then the Ganga river will be cleaned up to the Ganges Sagar through the Namami Gange project."
