AMRITSAR: The  Amritsar city, home to Sikhism's holiest shrine, the Golden Temple, that seen one of the bloodiest episodes in colonial India, a massacre of unarmed civilians in 1919, in northern India is all set to host a side event on education of G20 dignitaries on March 2023.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann sees a chance to position the state as a top location for attracting trade and investment. He routinely examines plans to make the event a tremendous success.

The holy city, which borders Pakistan, will be beautified thanks to funding approved by the state's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in the amount of Rs 100 crore.

Mann has emphasised that the work must be of the finest calibre in order to help the citizens of the city, Punjab's cultural centre, for a very long period.
On December 1, India took over as the G20's chairman for a year, succeeding Indonesia. India will host more than 200 meetings in more than 50 places across 32 different workstreams, giving G20 delegates and guests a view of the country's rich cultural legacy and an authentic Indian experience.
The G20, often known as the Group of Twenty, is an intergovernmental organisation made up of the 20 largest developed and developing economies in the world, making it the most important platform for global economic cooperation.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union are the countries that make up the G20.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote an article detailing India's goals for the G20 Presidency to commemorate the historic occasion when India officially assumed the G20 Presidency.

India anticipates a Presidency of healing, unity, and optimism, the Prime Minister stated in his article.
Widening of roads and lanes, cleaning of sewers and drains, and other beautifying initiatives are under progress ahead of the G20 summit in Amritsar to make the city's busy markets cleaner.

To oversee the day-to-day operations of the summit, the Chief Minister formed a cabinet subcommittee. To assist the cabinet subcommittee, he also established a committee under the direction of the chief secretary, Vijay Kumar Janjua.
