London: According to the Daily Mail, a detained former medical student from the UK who joined Daesh in Syria has expressed his desire to return home to "face justice." Ibrahim Ageed, 29, and his brother Mohammed, 23, both joined the terrorist organisation in 2015 when they were each 21 years old.
In order to travel to Turkey and then Syria, the two dropped out of their final year of studies at the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Leicester.
Ageed has spent the last four years in the Al-Sina prison in northeastern Syria after being captured and imprisoned following the defeat of Daesh in Syria and Iraq. His tale is comparable to that of Shamima Begum, 23, who joined the terrorist organisation at the age of 15 and left London with two classmates.

Ageed stated in an interview that he had the "right" to go back to Britain and cautioned that Daesh "could make a comeback." I expect to face the justice system, but I'm prepared to take responsibility for my actions and I think it's basically within my rights to return home, the man said.

Ageed claimed to have been "completely isolated" while incarcerated and claimed that individuals from all over the world initially joined Daesh because they had "lost hope." It's a very difficult task, he continued, to completely rid the world of these groups.
