Washington: A painful accident took place in West Texas, USA. A massive explosion at a dairy farm caused a massive fire, killing more than 18,000 cows. This is the first such incident in America in which so many cattle have lost their lives. Reuters says that the explosion took place on Monday at the South Fork Dairy Farm in Dimmit, Texas. The fire spread through a building on the farm. Black smoke had spread in the entire area.

Reports say that this farm belonged to a family that was the largest milk producer in Texas. The fire brigade team had to work hard for hours to extinguish the fire, and then it was learned that more than 18,000 cows had lost their lives. The fire department has said that an employee of the dairy farm was trapped in it and has been rescued by the authorities and admitted to the hospital. At present, the cause of the fire is being investigated. County Judge Mandy Geffler said she suspected a device malfunction had caused the explosion.

Since 2013, the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) has started tracking such incidents. From which it is known that in the last decade, about 65 lakh animals lost their lives in such fire incidents, most of them being chickens. However, this Texas farm fire was the most devastating fire involving cattle. There are no federal regulations to protect animals from fires, and only a few states have adopted fire safety codes, according to a statement from the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI). Texas is not included in this.
