After a detailed investigation, the Chief Taxing Officer of the Municipal Corporation has submitted a report to this effect to the Municipal Commissioner. It has been written that Charitable Trust is not running in Anand Bhavan. Therefore, the house tax exemption cannot be given. A letter has also been sent to trust in this regard.

The trust officials met Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi in November last, after receiving a notice of Rs 4.36 crore house tax arrears from the Municipal Corporation regarding the matter and requested for the disposal of the case. The mayor advised submitting the documents related to the trust to the corporation. Then the tax assessment team of Municipal Corporation Zone-4 did a physical verification of Anand Bhawan and gave a report to the Chief Assessing Officer. Trust had also given documents of Anand Bhawan being a charitable trust. It was also investigated.

The report says that commercial activities are going on (in Anand Bhavan). Anand Bhawan comes under the purview of house tax. Therefore, the exemption cannot be granted. A trust case is also going on in the court regarding tax. Tax revision cannot take place in this situation. In such a situation, the trust will have to pay the house tax. Municipal Commissioner Ravi Ranjan says that a letter has been sent to the trust in the order of the tax department's report. The trust has not received any response yet.
