New Delhi:-  The departure caused an uproar among Microsoft executives. Anant Maheshwari resigns after nearly seven years in office. He also worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company

Anant Maheshwari, president of Microsoft India, has resigned after working for the software company for about seven years. The exit prompted a change in management at the multinational software giant.

Microsoft has appointed its COO, Irina Ghose, as its managing director for India. When she asked a Microsoft spokeswoman, she confirmed the development.

“We can confirm that Anant has made the decision to leave Microsoft to pursue a role outside the company. We wish you every success in your efforts," the spokesperson said.

The company has appointed Navtej Bal as its new Chief Operating Officer and Venkat Krishnan will assume the role of Public Sector Managing Director.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Maheshwari was President of India at Honeywell and his Manager of Engagement at McKinsey & Company.

Meanwhile, it was reported a few days ago that Sreenivasa Reddy, a senior engineering manager at Microsoft, is likely to join Google later this year, according to people familiar with the matter. Previously, she held senior positions on Apple's India regulatory team, where she managed government relations for the local branch of Swedish telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson AB, helping drive both companies' domestic manufacturing.

The executive will help Google meet its regulatory challenges. The company, based in Mountain View, California, is fighting antitrust lawsuits in India. Officials have accused him of abusing market dominance in mobile operating systems.
