New Delhi: On Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid a visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi, where they discussed a number of key issues concerning the state.

The Chief Minister asked Modi to approve the revised cost estimates of Rs 55,657 crore at 2017-18 prices, which includes a Rs 4,000 crore drinking water component, as well as to release the state government's overdue payments of Rs 2,100 crore for the Polavaram project.

While the state's entire income deficit for the 2014-15 fiscal year is Rs 22,948.76 crore, only Rs 4,117.89 crore has been released, according to Jagan Reddy. He asked the Prime Minister to provide the remaining Rs 18,830.87 crore as soon as possible to help the state in its time of need.

According to the Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) is owed Rs 6,284 crore by Telangana State Distribution Utilities, and Telangana DISCOMs have recognised the amount as payables but have failed to make the payment.

He asked the Prime Minister to instruct the concerned authorities to clear these debts as soon as possible so that the state's power sector may be financially strengthened and the state's obligations to power suppliers can be met.
