Visakhapatnam: A case of sexual abuse of a 10-year-old minor girl by a priest at Sarpavaram in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh has come to light. Police have arrested 46-year-old priest Alawala Sudhakar. According to the report, the accused is a priest in a village in the Kakinada area. The report said that the accused priest had sexually abused and assaulted the girl on June 22, 2021. As soon as the girl's mother came to know about the incident, she lodged a sexual abuse complaint against the priest at Sarpavaram police station. The police then arrested the accused.
A case was registered against the priest under various provisions of the POCSO Act. The accused was produced before the court from where he was remanded in judicial custody by the court. Inspector B Rajasekhar of Sarpavaram Circle said, "The priest from Kakinada has been identified as Avala Sudhakar. He attended a function in the city on June 22, 2021. Meanwhile, the accused allegedly took the girl to a nearby hut and sexually abused her.''
Media reports said that the accused priest attended a function on June 22. A 10-year-old girl also came there. The accused Sudhakar lured the girl away from the church with him and did wrong to her. On pleading for help, the priest gave the 50 rupee note and asked her to tell no one about it. However, when asked repeatedly by the villagers and family members, the victim narrated the entire ordeal. The victim's mother then lodged a police complaint against the accused priest. On the basis of which the priest was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
