Severe waterlogging caused by heavy rains has led to the cancellation of 21 trains in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On Sunday, intense rainfall resulted in the washout of a railway track near Intakanne station, disrupting the rail connection between Kesamudram and Intakanne. Restoration efforts are underway and are expected to be completed by tomorrow evening.

According to officials from the South Central Railways, there have been six major breaches on the track, with significant damage observed at kilometers 418, 432, and 433. Chief Project Manager Subramaniam reported that the most critical breaches are at kilometer 418, with a length of around 70 meters, and at kilometer 433, approximately 50 meters in length. Restoration work is focused on these key areas.

South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain also visited the affected sites. He confirmed that several long-distance trains have been canceled, and others have been diverted to ensure passenger safety. Jain emphasized that while cancellations are inconvenient, they are necessary to prevent further issues and ensure safety.

Train services are anticipated to resume by tomorrow evening, though officials are working to expedite the process. More resources, including additional personnel and equipment, are being deployed to assist with the repairs.

In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been actively monitoring the flood situation in Vijayawada. Severe waterlogging has impacted various areas, and 110 boats are currently being used to deliver food and medical aid. Naidu has reassured the public that efforts are in place to manage the situation, including the establishment of command and control centers in flood-affected regions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for the next five days, predicting heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning for Sunday. Over the following days, isolated areas in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are expected to experience continued thunderstorms and lightning.
