Today, January 19, the Andhra Pradesh government is set to install the world's tallest statue dedicated to Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The grand inauguration of the 206-foot statue is scheduled for 6 pm at Swaraj Maidan grounds in Vijayawada.

Referred to as the "Statue of Social Justice" by the Andhra government, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed excitement about celebrating this significant achievement. He urged everyone to collectively honor Ambedkar's legacy, emphasizing his ongoing impact on our shared consciousness.

The towering statue, symbolizing Ambedkar's ideals, stands as a testament to the government's commitment to implementing welfare schemes aligned with his ideology. Chief Minister Reddy highlighted Ambedkar's visionary ideas from a century ago, asserting their enduring influence on the country's social, economic, and political history, particularly about women.

Last year, a 19-foot statue of B R Ambedkar was inaugurated in a Maryland suburb near Washington, USA.

The statue's height is 206 feet, in contrast to Sardar Vallabhai Patel's Statue of Unity, which is 597 feet tall.
Installed on an 81-foot pedestal at the Ambedkar Smriti Vanam, Amaravati.
The project incurred a cost of Rs. 404.35 crore and spans over 18.81 acres.
Construction was completed by the contractor agency M/s KPC Projects Ltd, Hyderabad, with the project's design by M/s Design Associates, Noida.

The overall redevelopment, including the statue's construction, covers 18.81 acres and features six water bodies, a central musical water fountain, and a three-sided peripheral water body around the pedestal building and greenery.

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, and affectionately known as Babasaheb, chaired the Constituent Assembly's crucial Drafting Committee, earning him the title of Architect of the Indian Constitution. He embraced Buddhism on October 14, 1956, and passed away on December 6, 1956.
