Fast-declining corona cases in Andaman-Nicobar, only few cases found in last 24 hours

Port Blair: The total cases of Covid-19 have increased to 7,560 after another person was found infected with coronavirus in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Wednesday. A bulletin of the health department gave information in this regard. The number of people undergoing corona infection treatment in the Union Territory is now only 10, while 7,421 people have recovered from the disease so far, one of which has recovered in the last 24 hours.

The bulletin noted that no new patients died and the death toll remained at 129. It also said that the administration has so far tested about 4.72 lakh samples to check corona. A total of 3.34 million people have been vaccinated against covid so far, out of which one lakh have received both doses of the vaccine. Earlier on Tuesday also only two cases of infection were registered in the Union Territory. The health department had reported that both patients found corona positive had come from somewhere outside. There was no new case of infection reported on Monday.

There were 37,593 new cases of corona infection in the country on Wednesday. The number of active cases in the country is 3,22,327, which is less than 1 percent of the total infected cases. According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of people who lost their lives from Covid rose to 4,35,758 after 648 more people died in a day. The positivity rate in new cases was recorded at 2.10 percent. The daily positivity rate has been below 3 percent for the last 30 days.
