NEW DELHI: The Congress party, which has been in a state of crisis since its huge defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is brainstorming on the presidency. The biggest question before all the Congress veterans at the time is who should be handed over the command? Meanwhile, the son of former PM S.Lal Bahadur Shastri and senior Congress leader Anil Shastri said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should be given the command of the Congress party.

Anil Shastri said, if the leadership of congress gets in the head of a non-Congress leader, the party may break into regional parties. In Maharashtra, Bengal and Andhra, the way the Congress has broken out, it may be in other states. "Rahul Gandhi has resigned as President, I respect his sentiments. The Congress Party needs leadership, the crisis we are going through is inevitable that the party will get a new leadership as soon as possible. The delay, in this case, is not correct.

On the question of president to a non-congress, Shastri said, "There is currently no leader in the Congress who can keep the party together. Maintain unity in the party and accept it all. If a president is made and a torso does not accept it, there may be chances of a split. Like in West Bengal, on the one hand, there is the Mamata Congress, the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh. In Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar has the National Congress Party (Ranpa).
