Mumbai: The body of a girl was found near a canal in Mumbai. The deceased has been identified as Urvi Vaishnav. She was originally from Rajasthan's Bundi district and worked as a waiter in a hotel in Mumbai. Riyaz Khan has been accused of killing her. According to the report, Urvi was in a live-in relationship with Riyaz. Urvi's body was recovered on Saturday (December 17).

According to media reports, 27-year-old Urvi came to Mumbai from Rajasthan about 7 years ago. Here she took up a job as a waiter in a hotel in the Koparkheran area. She was accompanied by his two brothers Paras and Arush. During this time, she came in contact with Riyaz Khan. The friendship later turned into love. After some time, she started living in a live-in relationship with Riyaz. According to Paras, Urvi owned a car. Riyaz Khan also roamed around in this car. As usual, on December 13, 2022, Urvi left home for the hotel. She used to call her brother Paras at 5 pm every day, but that day he did not get a call. Upset over not getting a call from their sister, Paras and Arush called Riyaz Khan. Riyaz did not respond and disconnected the phone.  

Urvi's brother Arush said that on December 13, Riyaz had gone to drop his sister in a car to the hotel. It is alleged that at around 1.30 pm, Riyaz returned alone in Urvi's car. He asked for coffee with a headache and then left the house saying that he would bring Urvi back. Urvi did not return home till late in the night. Her phone was also switched off. The next day, on December 14, the brothers lodged a missing person's report at Nerul police station. During this time, nothing was found about Riyaz. For 3 days, both brothers searched Urvi a lot from their level, but could not find any information.

On December 17, the brothers received a call from Panvel police station. On the call, they were called to identify the body of a girl found on the canal bank. When the two brothers reached the police station, they recognized Urvi's body. Later, the news was conveyed to Urvi's family in Rajasthan. All of them took Urvi's body and cremated her on December 19, 2022, in Bundi, Rajasthan. Urvi's family is accusing Riyaz Khan of murder. The Navi Mumbai Police is investigating the case. Riyaz has not been arrested yet.
