Lucknow: Another leader from the Samajwadi Party (SP) has been accused of rape in Uttar Pradesh. An FIR has been filed against Virendra Bahadur Pal, a former state secretary and ex-president of the Mau Bar Association. The complaint was lodged by a female colleague who alleges that Pal has been sexually assaulting her for the past year, using photographs and videos to coerce her.

Virendra Bahadur Pal, who has served as president of the Mau Bar Association twice, is now facing serious allegations. The FIR registered at the Kotwali police station in Mau includes charges under various sections of the IPC, including 115(2), 351(2), 352, 123, and 64(2)(m). The victim claims that Pal forced her into sexual relations and threatened her to keep the incidents hidden. Mau police say that Virendra Bahadur Pal is absconding after the case was registered

On September 7, CO Anjani Kumar Pandey from Mau reported that the complaint was filed against Pal for rape and assault. The woman stated that Pal, a lawyer by profession, attacked her in her chamber on September 6 and threatened her to remain silent about the past incidents. The police are currently investigating the matter.

This case adds to a troubling series of allegations against SP members in recent weeks. Previously, SP leaders Moeed Khan and Raju Khan were arrested in Ayodhya for raping and impregnating a Dalit minor. Another SP worker, Shahban, was apprehended by UP Police after being involved in the rape of a Dalit minor. Nawab Singh Yadav, who represented SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav, was also arrested and confirmed by DNA evidence for raping a minor. These incidents have occurred within the last 50 days, resulting in the arrest of four SP leaders and workers on rape charges. Virendra Bahadur Pal's case marks the fifth such incident.
