Raipur: Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said there is anti-incumbency against the ruling BJP in Himachal Pradesh. He claimed that Congress was in a strong position to succeed in the upcoming elections there. He was interacting with the media at the Swami Vivekananda Airport here after returning from Shimla on Monday evening.

Baghel, who has been appointed senior observer by the Congress for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls, said he held a series of meetings with party leaders there on Sunday and Monday. "The Congress is in a strong position in Himachal Pradesh. There is anti-incumbency against the BJP government. There is a very good situation in favour of Congress. If we all fight together, we will definitely achieve success.''

Earlier, before the assembly elections, the Cm of Chhattisgarh made a flurry of announcements for the people of Himachal. He has announced that if Congress comes to power, 300 units of domestic electricity will be given free of cost. Women in the age group of 18 to 60 years will be given an allowance of Rs 1,500 per month. He said that these decisions have been taken in the core committee meeting. Talking to reporters at the state guest house Peterhaaf on Monday, he said that on the lines of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the old pension of employees will also be restored in Himachal. Provisions will be made for this in the budget. He said that crores of rupees are deposited with the Center in the name of pensions from the employees of the state. This amount will be sought back. The central government is free to know how it will give pensions for its employees. A budget provision of Rs 680 crore will be made for self-employment in all 68 assembly constituencies of the state. With this amount, interest-free loans will be given to 5 lakh persons for a period of three years.
