Raipur: On Thursday, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Due to this, he appealed to provide special economic package for the development of tribal communities in Bastar and Surguja areas of the state. Along with this, Governor Anusuiya Uikey also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Governor Anusuiya Uikey held talks on Naxal activities and other issues in the insurgency affected areas of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Chhattisgarh Raj Bhavan, Anusuiya Uikey told the PM that receiving the special package would help in expansion of health and education related facilities in two tribal dominated areas of the state. Along with this, employment opportunities will also increase for tribal youth in the state. He told Prime Minister Modi that this special package will help in the development of tribal communities in a better way.
The same Raj Bhavan statement said that at the time of this meeting, Governor Anusuiya Uikey appealed to Prime Minister Modi to implement the Municipality Extension Act for Scheduled Areas Act for urban bodies falling under the Fifth Schedule Area on the lines of the PESA Act. . Due to the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Governor Uike told the PM that due to mistakes in spelling of caste names, eligible persons are facing difficulties in obtaining ST certificate. He has appealed to the Central Government to take necessary steps in this direction.
