Apple Inc. is gearing up to release a new entry-level iPhone SE and upgraded iPads early next year. The new iPhone SE, codenamed V59, will mark the first update to the SE series since 2022. It is expected to feature an edge-to-edge screen, moving away from the traditional home button design, and will support Apple Intelligence, the company’s upcoming AI suite.
The new SE will resemble the iPhone 14, including the notch cutout, making it more similar to Apple’s higher-end models. Currently priced at $429, the SE is Apple’s budget option, though it faces strong competition from Android devices, particularly in markets like China. With its modern design and AI tools, the SE aims to appeal to budget-conscious buyers while competing with rivals like Huawei and Xiaomi.
In addition to the iPhone SE, Apple is also planning to release new iPad Air models, codenamed J607 and J637. These will focus primarily on internal improvements. Alongside the iPads, Apple is updating its Magic Keyboard accessory, which will be available for both the 11-inch and 13-inch versions of the new Air models. The keyboards will bring down some of the features seen in the iPad Pro version to these more affordable devices.
The iPad Air was last updated with an M2 chip and a 13-inch option earlier this year. Apple is also developing a new iPad mini, codenamed J410, which could be released by the end of 2024.
Beyond the iPhone SE and iPads, Apple is refreshing its Mac lineup with updated models featuring the new M4 processor. These include a revamped Mac mini, MacBook Pros, and iMacs. The M4 chip will be available in the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro in 2025, with all models highlighting enhanced Apple Intelligence features.
