The fast story of Apara Ekadashi - According to the legend, there was a godly king named Mahidhwaj. The king's younger brother Vajradhwaj used to hate his elder brother. One day he killed the king and he buried the king's body under a peep in the forest. Due to premature death, the soul of the king became a phantom and lived on Peepal.

Every person passing by the path used to disturb the soul. One day a sage was going through this path. He saw the phantom and came to know the reason for his becoming a phantom with his power. The sage brought down the king's spirit from the peepal tree and preached the otherworldly science. In order to get the king free from the phantom vagina, the sage himself fasted Apara Ekadashi and gave the virtue of the fast to the phantom on the day of Dwadashi. After attaining the virtue of Ekadashi fast, King Phantom was freed from the vagina and went to heaven.
