NEW DELHI: Argentina's President Alberto Angel Fernandez has landed in New Delhi for the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9-10. His arrival at the Delhi airport was warmly greeted by Faggan Singh Kulaste, the Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development.

This follows the 15th BRICS summit, where Argentina, among five other nations, was invited to join the BRICS alliance, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Hugo Javier Gobbi, Argentina's envoy to India, expressed gratitude for India's pivotal role in facilitating Argentina's inclusion in the group.

The Ministry of External Affairs has highlighted the robust and multifaceted relationship between India and Argentina, encompassing political, economic, scientific, and technological cooperation, including collaborative efforts in Antarctic research and cultural exchange. Both nations have consistently supported each other on the global stage, particularly concerning India's candidature in various UN and multilateral organizations, and Argentina's sovereignty claims regarding the Malvinas Islands and sovereign debt servicing issues with holdout creditors.

India is eagerly preparing to host the G20 Leader's Summit in the national capital, set to take place at the recently inaugurated Bharat Mandapam on September 9-10. This marks the first time that India assumes the presidency for the G20 Summit, with an array of global leaders and delegates expected to attend. Extensive arrangements have been made to showcase India's soft power and modern outlook.

The 18th G20 Summit serves as the culmination of a year-long series of G20 processes and meetings involving ministers, senior officials, and civil societies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India's G20 priorities would be developed through consultation with both G20 partners and fellow countries from the Global South, whose voices are often marginalized in such forums.
