Srinagar: Two mainstream conflicting parties, the PDP and the National Conference, came together to protest against the government after the Central Government removed Section 370 from Kashmir. During this period, he came together on this issue bypassing his mutual acrimony. Together they had opened a front against the Centre. But it seems that it may not last for long. After the removal of Section 370, the government has detained top leaders of both the parties. The government has termed the move as essential for peace.
According to a newspaper report, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NC leader Omar Abdullah clashed during the bandh. The story grew so much that the two leaders had to separate. The reason for this war was that the two leaders were accusing each other of bringing the BJP to the Valley and thriving. Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah slammed the late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed for forming an alliance with the BJP in 2015 and 2018. Then there was a horrendous exchange between the two.
Mehbooba Mufti also held Omar, his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah, responsible for the merger of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. As a result, the two had to separate. Mehbooba Mufti attacked Omar Abdullah and reminded him that his father Farooq Abdullah had formed an alliance with Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government and was the Minister of State for External Affairs. Though the situation in Jammu and Ladakh is fine after the removal of Section 370, the situation in Kashmir is still not fully normal.
