Chandigarh: International Women wrestler Babita Phogat will join the BJP today. His father Mahavir Phogat will also be joining the party. BJP Executive Chairman Jaypee Nadda will give the two BJP memberships. Babita has earlier campaigned for the Jan Nayak Janata Party (JJP) party of Dushyant Chautala. Mahabir Phogat is the head of the JJP's Sports Cell. Now both the JJps are going to leave and join the BJP.

Haryana is slated to hold assembly elections by the end of this year. In view of this, the ruling BJP is making efforts to further strengthen its party. The BJP has appointed Narendra Singh Tomar as the election in-charge for Haryana. Bhupendra Singh has been made co-in-charge. The party has given 75 plus slogans out of 90 assembly seats this time.

In the 2014 assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP had won 47 seats, the Indian National Lok Dal 19 and the Congress 15, but Kuldeep Bishnoi and Renuka Bishnoi became Congress MLAs since the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) was merged with the Congress. Now the number of Congress MLAs has gone up to 17. The BJP has taken 14 MLAs from other parties in its court.
