It is often said that the wrestler's temple is an arena, where his career rises. Unfortunately, the aspirations of the champion wrestlers of Bihar have remained confined in the fields. Kaushal Nut, a resident of Patna, a state champion for eight years, who has represented Bihar in the Nationals, has been feeding the family by working in other fields. Poonam Yadav of Kaimur, who is forced to do farming with her father says "Family responsibilities often ends human dreams".
In 2009, National Games bronze medalist Kaushal Nut's going to the secretariat to get help. He is 28 years old, but getting a job with sports quota remains a dream. Even after participating in three national events in 2014 and 2015, he could not be find a job. In 2019, after his father's demise, he started working in fields. He has to feed an old mother, wife and four children.
Kaushal further said that if he had given more time to wrestling, he would have made it someday. He wants the government to give him a job so that he can also make his children a wrestler. Poonam Yadav, a female wrestler from Kaimur, who had represented Bihar in the National four times, got stuck during the lockdown. Poonam used the money to help her family in lockdown. At present, Poonam is doing farming with her father on a small land. Poonam used to go to the Bichhiya gym 15 km away from her house. She says "We will happy if Eklavya wrestling centres are open for girls in Bihar as well. Both wrestlers have placed their demands before the government."
