The World Cup event of ICC is not as straightforward as it seems. Looking at the program before the outbreak of Corona infection, T20 World Cup was going to be held in Australia in October-November and in 2021 in India in October-November in 2021. After this, in March-April in 2023, the ODI World Cup was going to be held in India, but Corona spoiled it all. The ICC has postponed the World Cup to be held this year.

ICC kept options open: A source in the ICC said that the global institution of cricket suspects that next year the conditions in India will not be such that T-20 World Cup will be held there and that is why we have kept the options opened. We cannot say this thing officially, but from the reports which we have received and what has been discussed in the meeting, we have reached this decision. However, it is still being continuously discussed. We have not yet set any deadline to decide the host.

It has been said further that we have not yet decided where the 2021 T-20 World Cup will be and where the year 2022 is going to be. First T-20 World Cup was to be held in India next year. One aspect is that Cricket Australia is also wishing that if the T-20 World Cup is not being held here this year, then next year, it should be hosted in place of India, and India should have the T-20 World Cup in the year 2022. It is also good for the ICC as more than half the work is done in Australia. If it is held in Australia in the year 2022, then all that work will be spoiled.
