On Friday, April 15:Army pays tribute to Major Amit Deswal,Rediff.com he wreath-laying ceremony of Major ,who was died amid a gunbattle with Zeliangrong United Front militants in Manipur . Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag also paid tributes to the deceased soldier.

Major Amit Deswal was killed amid a adjusting operation conducted by the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Forces in Tamenglong district of Manipur. The soldiers had engaged in encounter with ZUF militants in the Nungba area.

Deswal, of 21 Para SF, received a gunshot wound to his stomach during the operation. Unfortunately, his body could not be recovered immediately as the area was densely forested. Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh also extended his condolences to the bereaved father.
