New Delhi: Today, Army has announced the deployment of women in Military Police, just one day after the Nirmala Sitharaman took over in the Ministry of Defense. This will be the first time that women are being deployed at the lower level in the army. So far, the women were being deployed on the rank of officer in the army, but this would be the first deployment of the army.

According to the army, 800 women will be deployed in the Military Police Corps (CMP). For this, 52 women will be recruited every year.

According to the experts, this may open women in the army by way of combat roles i.e. fighters because combatants have been given women in the air force and they are ready to fly fighter aircraft by completing training soon. But in the Army and Navy, women still have not been given a warfighting role directly. It is believed that the recruitment of women in the military army can open the way for them directly to the battlefield.

According to a senior army officer, only male officers and jawans are deployed in the Military Police. But now they will also be recruited on the posts of officers and soldiers. This will help in investigating cases and complaints related to women in the army.

Army's Military Police Corps Regimental Center is in Bangalore. The recruitment of the soldiers is done directly while the officers come from different regiments of the army. But officials have to do a special course to come here.
