LUCKNOW: On 1 April 2023, the Lucknow International Airport (LIAL) has proposed a "steep" increase in aviation taxes such parking and landing charges. The charge increase will last until April 1, 2025, in order to pay for the ambitious airport development plan.
The Adani Company has reportedly suggested increasing the UDF per domestic departure from Rs. 192 to Rs. 1025. (excluding taxes). Up until April 1, 2025, the airport operator intends to raise the price for foreign departure from Rs. 561 to Rs. 2,756 (without taxes).
These new fees have been put up by Adani Group to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). The final tariff order, which the regulator will release, will typically have lower rates than those recommended by airport operators.
Moreover, price increases for domestic and foreign cargo handling services have been proposed by the Lucknow airport.
While airlines are subject to aero tariffs, passengers directly pay the user development charge. Once more, the airline's airfares are determined by operating expenses. As a result, it is anticipated that the cost of flights to Lucknow will increase as a result of this decision.
The Lucknow airport was given to the Adani group on a 50-year lease by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in 2020.
Six of the nation's majaor airports viz Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Trivandrum, and Guwahati, were privatised by the national government in February 2019. The Adani group was awarded the 50-year leases to all of them following a competitive bidding process.
