New Delhi: Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India. He was born on 3 December 1884. He actively participated in India's freedom struggle. He was one of the big leaders of Bihar joining the Congress. Postgraduate Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a great supporter of Mahatma Gandhi in advocacy. He also had to undergo jail sentences along with Mahatma Gandhi for the Satyagraha movement in 1931 and the Quit India movement in 1942.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was also the National President of Congress from the years 1934 to 1935. After the elections held in 1946, he was appointed as the Minister of Food and Agriculture in the Central Government. Seeing his contribution towards the country, he was also awarded the country's highest award Bharat Ratna. His contribution to the country even after the independence of India is remarkable.

In the year 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad served the country as Food and Agriculture Minister and after independence, he was made the President of India. While President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad visited many countries to strengthen the image of India. He chose the Sadaqat Ashram near Patna to spend the last days of his life. Here on 28 February 1963, he died.
