The 77th anniversary of the August Kranti Din, which is one of the important milestones in the history of India is being observed today. On August 8, 1942, Gandhiji launched the "Quit India Movement" and decided to launch a collective civil disobedience movement "Do or Die" to force the British to leave India.

The agitation led to large scale violence at railway stations, telephone offices, government buildings, other places and institutions of the sub-investment raj. There were a number of incidents of sabotage and the government-held Gandhiji responsible for these acts of violence and said it was a deliberate act of Congress policy.

On the other hand, all the main leaders were arrested, the Congress was banned and the Army was called in to suppress the agitation. Meanwhile, Subhash Chandra Bose, who was then underground, went out of British detention in Calcutta and went abroad and formed the Indian National Army (INA) or the Azad Hind Fauj to overthrow British rule from India. World War II began in 1939 and the Governor-General of the British Raj declared war on behalf of India without consulting Indian leaders.

Subhash Chandra Bose took over the British forces with the help of Japan and liberated the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from the British Raj and entered the North-East border of India. Since World War II, the British had already broken their backs and this movement worked as the last nail in the coffin of the British rule. Since then, the day is celebrated in the country every year as The Day of the Kranti Diwas which pays homage to the revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom of country.
