Arunachal Governor BD Mishra presented awards to 2 battalions of 11th Gorkha Rifles regiment

On Thursday Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra presented awards to the 6th battalion of the 11th Gorkha Rifles regiment and the 20th unit of the Sikh Regiment.

Colonel Pankaj Kumar of the 6/11 GR and Colonel AB Sahu of the 20 SIKH, as well as their Subedar Majors and junior-most sepoys, was presented with the Governor's award. The Governor praised the battalions for properly carrying out their operational missions, keeping outstanding connections with the district administration, and establishing a strong bond with the civilian population. According to a Raj Bhawan communiqué, he wished the battalions all the best in their future responsibilities.

Mishra praised the 6th battalion of the Gorkha Rifles' 11th regiment for fostering a positive civil-military relationship through outreach and programmes including as medical camps, infrastructural support, and promotion of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in rural areas. The battalion has been aiding the civil administration, government officials, and local residents in their efforts to make Kaho a model village.

The Governor also praised the 20 SIKH for providing medical services, constructing huts on high altitude traditional grazing grounds, repairing bridges, assisting in the preservation of people's worshipping locations, and GIS mapping of the area for the local community. He urged Army battalions to raise awareness about stopping the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and to encourage people to get vaccinated as soon as possible at the nearest vaccination centre.

Mishra urged the battalions to keep up the good job, in terms of building goodwill among the people of the state, and to encourage and train local adolescents, including females, to join the Indian Armed Forces, according to the communiqué.
