New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has announced compensation to the farmers in a major relief. Announcing the compensation, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that farmers whose crops were damaged due to unseasonal rains in October last year will be given the benefit of compensation. A survey to assess the loss of mustard and other crops will be launched soon in January to determine the compensation.

He informed about the compensation through Twitter. CM Kejriwal himself tweeted that due to the unseasonal rains, the crops of the farmers in Delhi were damaged, from today onwards we have started giving compensation amounts to compensate for their loss. I handed over the cheques to some farmer brothers myself. In terms of Rs 20,000 per acre, the farmers are getting the highest compensation in the entire country in Delhi. 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal hit out at the Punjab government and said that Punjab has not yet paid compensation for crop loss to farmers. He said Punjab's cotton crop is affected by pink bollworm, where the state government has announced a compensation of only Rs 12,000 per acre and has not paid that amount.
