New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families affected by the Alipur market fire on Friday. He also pledged to take action against the factory owner for operating the factory in a residential area and assured compensation for nearby shops damaged in the fire.

The tragic incident occurred when a fire broke out in a paint factory in Dayal Market, Alipur, resulting in the loss of 11 lives and injuring four individuals. Kejriwal expressed deep sorrow over the incident and detailed the compensation plan: Rs 10 lakh for each deceased family, Rs 2 lakh for major injuries, and Rs 20,000 for minor injuries. He also vowed to compensate the affected shops and houses after evaluating the extent of damage.

Responding to concerns about delayed fire tenders, Kejriwal promised an inquiry into the matter and reiterated the intention to hold the factory owner accountable for violating residential area regulations. Earlier in the day, Kejriwal visited the site in Alipur to assess the situation and provide immediate relief to residents.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva also visited Alipur and announced immediate assistance of Rs 50,000 for the families of the deceased. Criticizing the Delhi government's response, Sachdeva held them responsible for the incident and accused them of corruption.

In response to the tragic event, Delhi police registered a case of culpable homicide against the paint factory owner, Akhil Jain, from Haryana's Sonipat. The case, filed under IPC sections 304 and 308, indicates ongoing investigations into the incident.
