Let us tell all of you that in any kind of drug-related case in India, action is taken under two types of laws. One of these laws is the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NarcoticDrugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985), also known as NDPS act. At the same time, the second law is prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances Act of 1988 (Prevention of Narcoticdrugs and Psychotropic Substances Trafficking Act, 1988).
What do these two laws say? - Let us tell you that the NDPS Law deals with banning the cultivation, production, possession, sale, purchase, trade, export, import or use of any illegal drug. However, the law exempts the use of such drugs in some medical and scientific cases. At the same time, apart from hashish, heroin and opium, some other synthetic drugs are also completely illegal in India. Drug discovery, seizure and use of drugs can be arrested. The law provides for sending those found guilty to jail in addition to financial penalties.
