4-time MP and President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi has never contested the Hyderabad Lok Sabha elections, but has won. The margin of victory is also in lakhs. No party could field such a strong candidate that he would have to contest the elections. That's why he has been undefeated for 20 years. His father had also been winning like this for 20 years. However, this time the case is different. His direct contest is with Dr. Madhavi Lata of BJP. She is new to politics, but adept at oratory. Then, to win for the fifth time, Owaisi has to contest the elections boldly.
Hyderabadis have been having political relations with the Owaisi family for three generations. Current MP Owaisi's grandfather Abdul Wahid Owaisi started politics in 1957 from Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. He united the scattered Majlis and the community into one thread. Owaisi's father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was elected MP 6 times consecutively from 1980 to 1999. Owaisi's political path was always full of flowers.
Senior journalist Rajendra says that Owaisi's father was given a strong challenge from BJP's Venkaiah Naidu in 1996 and B.Bal Reddy in 1999. Then, the distance kept increasing. In 2008, delimitation of Hyderabad seat took place and Tandur, Vikarabad and Chevalla assembly constituencies of rural area were cut off. Due to which Hyderabad seat was limited to the old city. It is very difficult to defeat them from here.
The strong reason behind this argument is that Owaisi's party is in control of 6 out of seven assembly seats in Hyderabad. His brother Akbaruddin Owaisi is the MLA from Chandrayangutta here. BJP won only from Goshamahal, where MLA T. Raja Singh himself was seeking Lok Sabha ticket, but the party gave it to Dr. Madhavi Latha. He is apparently unhappy with this.
This is not the challenge for BJP. Owaisi won the last election by 2.5 lakh votes. It is not easy to bridge this gap. Madhavi Lata is alleging that Owaisi is winning with the help of fake votes. However, this time thousands of votes have also been deducted. Despite this, the opponents are fully aware of Owaisi's strength. Then, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur also conducted a road show for the nomination of Madhavi Lata. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has even organized the enlightened conference. Programs of many leaders including National President JP Nadda are also fixed. It is clear that BJP is not going to leave open field for Owaisi.
