Ahmedabad: The court has given strict punishment to rape convict Asaram. Rapist Asaram will spend his life in jail for raping a disciple. The court had reserved judgment in the matter. Today on Tuesday, the court sentenced Asaram, convicted of rape, to life imprisonment. Asaram's former disciple had described Asaram's brutality with her during her stay in his ashram. The victim accused Asaram of raping her on the day of Guru Purnima. More than nine years after the case was registered, the court has now sentenced the culprit to severe punishment.

Let us tell you that in 2013, the girl, who became the victim of Asaram's lust in the ashram located in Rajasthan, had filed a case of rape. Asaram was produced in the court through a video link. Asaram has been presented in the trial only through video conferencing. Asaram's wife was not present in the court due to ill health and being admitted to a hospital in Surat. The court had to wait to pronounce the verdict as Asaram's daughter did not reach on time.

No one was allowed to enter the court except the lawyers. Asaram termed the allegations against him as a conspiracy. After a case was registered against Asaram under the POCSO Act in Jodhpur, the Surat victim came forward and lodged a complaint highlighting the atrocities she faced at the ashram in Ahmedabad between 1997 and 2006. The victim's younger sister also accused Narayan Sai of sexual exploitation.
