South India is abuzz with most popular season of dance and Music “Marghazhi” the margazhi season have shifted to online platforms this year owing to COVID 19 restrictions on gathering. With many events around, of such events Marghazhi Kadamothsavam is one of the virtual event which brought many dancers and musician to the audience from across the globe.

Indore leading dance performer and Teacher has been felicitated with the honorary title of “Natyakala Shikharojwala” for his passionate work in central India towards propagating south Indian Dance forms. Rangaramanuja veekayes productivity and cultural council (Chennai) along with SKS cultural foundation (Chennai),  Sainadha kala samithi (Vishakhapatnam)  and Sugabala Sangeeth Academy (Mumbai) organized international Marghazhi Kadambothsavam fest in virtual mode.

He was honored with the title for molding his disciples with intricate nuances of dance and passing on Indian traditions. Ashish Pillai said the awards and honors are a great motivating factor and often more valuable than monetary benefits. Such honors motivate to work more towards the cause of spreading the art forms, and boost the moral. According to Ashish he feels extremely elated on receiving the honour as it came as a good surprise in the start of the year.

During the festival Ashish Pillai’s disciple Kum. Kanitha Shivakumar gave a beautiful Bharatnatyam performance and was bestowed with title of “Narthana Achintya” given to emerging young dancers. Kanitha has been learning Bharatnatyam under Guru Ashish Pillai since last 6 years and has won various prizes at the national and international dance competitions. The awards were announced in a virtually held event.
