Ashok Kumar himself sang a song in his first film as an actor, Jeevan Naiya (1936). The lyrics of this song were – “Koi Humdum Na Raha, Koi Sahara Na Raha”. After that the father met Ashok and asked him to quit acting.

While there Ashok went to Himanshu Rai and showed him the job papers and said that his father is standing outside and wants to talk to him. During that time Rai spoke to his father in private and after a while his father came to Ashok and tore the job papers. During that time he told Ashok, "He (Himanshu Rai) says that if you do the same thing, you will reach a very high position. So I think you should stop here." Soon, Ashok became a superstar. His name came to be Dadamoni and during that time Ashok Kumar's craze was such that he rarely left the house and whenever he left, a huge crowd gathered and the traffic stopped.
