Ashok Leyland has secured its largest-ever single order from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), acquiring a contract to supply 2,104 units of Viking passenger buses, the company announced in a press release.

The total value of this monumental order stands at approximately Rs 981.45 Crores, with deliveries scheduled from August 2024 to August 2025.

MSRTC, one of India's leading state transport entities, currently manages a fleet exceeding 15,000 buses. This order marks a significant milestone as Ashok Leyland's buses will now prominently feature in MSRTC's operations. The buses are designed to meet the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards and are equipped with AIS 153 compliant bodies.

Specifically, the order includes BSVI OBD II Diesel Fuel Type Fully Built Passenger Buses, incorporating Ashok Leyland's advanced iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology. These buses boast a robust 197 HP H-Series Engine and feature Rear Air Suspension among other advanced functionalities.

Manufacturing of these buses will take place at Ashok Leyland's state-of-the-art bus body plants, ensuring stringent quality standards for enhanced safety, comfort, and cost-effectiveness over the lifespan of the vehicles.

This significant order further solidifies Ashok Leyland's position as one of the top five largest bus manufacturers globally. It underscores the company's commitment to innovation and reliability in both the domestic and international bus markets.
