DUBAI: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has succeeded the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the 2nd Super Four match of Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
In the second Super Four game of the 2022 Asia Cup, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
In place of injured Ravindra Jadeja (who is out of the competition owing to a right knee injury), Dinesh Karthik, and Avesh Khan, India has added Hardik Pandya (rested from the last match against Hong Kong), Deepak Hooda, and Ravi Bishnoi, meaning Rishabh Pant will keep wickets.
On the other hand, Pakistan's starting eleven now includes pacer Mohammad Hasnain in place of fellow fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, who is out with what is thought to be a side strain.
"We are bowling first since the dew can be a factor. We learned a lot from our last game against India. Play optimistically, is the message "After winning the toss, Azam stated.
Last Sunday's Group A match between these two teams ended with a thrilling five-wicket victory for India thanks to Hardik Pandya's 3/25 and unbeaten 33 off 17 balls, along with contributions from Jadeja (35 off 29 balls) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/26).
Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, said that he too would have chosen to bowl first. "We must now play freely and judge a successful outcome on this field. In this format, momentum is important; you must be accurate from the first and not care about outside influences. Injury is something we cannot control; Jadeja has returned home after being declared ineligible. It was difficult to decide on the starting XI." Sanjay Manjrekar predicted that the pitch would play true rather than two-paced before the toss because it has an even layer of grass. Wasim Akram, on the other hand, believed that the fast bowlers should have more carry and that choosing to bowl first after winning the toss should be the best course of action.
