New Delhi: After India's second consecutive defeat in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2022, skipper Rohit Sharma said that the batsmen could not perform well in the middle overs against Sri Lanka and could not take the team to a respectable score. Sri Lanka's opening batsmen Pathum Nisanka and Kusal Mendis scored half-centuries as Sri Lanka thrashed India by 6 wickets in a thrilling second round of the Asia Cup.

When Team India captain Rohit Sharma was asked about the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, he has given an interesting answer. After the match, Rohit said, 'We should have scored 10-15 more runs. Batsmen have to play responsibly and be alert in shots selection.' Rohit said, 'This team was playing well for a long time. We will learn from this type of defeat as a team.'

In a post-match press briefing, Rohit also gave a befitting reply to the critics of senior pacer Bhuvneshwar, who could not take any wicket in the match against Sri Lanka. When the full-time captain of India was asked about Bhuvneshwar's dismal performance in the death overs, he replied, 'Even experienced bowlers give away runs. Bhuvi has been playing for us for so many years and he has won us many matches in the death overs.'
