ASIA CUP: India registers a strong win against Bangladesh

New Delhi: The Indian women's cricket team defeated defending champions Bangladesh by 59 runs on Saturday (October 8) in their fifth match of the Asia Cup 2022. With this victory, Team India also avenged the defeat against Bangladesh in the final of 2018. Batting first, winning this toss, India scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and then restricted Bangladesh to 100 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

For Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs, Fergana Haque scored 30 and Murshida Khatoon scored 21 runs. For India, Shafali took 2 wickets for just 10 runs in her four overs. Deepti Sharma conceded just 13 runs in 4 overs and went on to take two wickets. Batting earlier, India scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Team India made a stormy start and scored 91 runs in the first 10 overs without losing any wickets.

However, in the next 10 overs, the team was only able to score 68 runs. Shafali Verma scored the highest 55 runs for Team India. Apart from them, Smriti Mandhana, who was the captain in this match, played a useful inning of 47 and Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 35. For Bangladesh, Rumana Ahmed took the most three wickets in his name.
