Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp critique of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government in Jharkhand, accusing it of prioritizing infiltrators over the interests of the local tribal population. Sarma's remarks came during a planning conference for a youth rally organized by the BJP's youth wing, set to take place in Ranchi on August 23.
Sarma, who also serves as the BJP’s Jharkhand election co-in-charge, asserted that the upcoming rally would serve as a platform for the youth of Jharkhand to set a new agenda for the state. He accused Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of misleading the public with false promises, emphasizing two primary issues: public dissatisfaction with broken commitments and the challenge of addressing infiltration.
The Assam Chief Minister alleged that infiltrators, rather than addressing issues based on caste, are targeting Hindus and altering the state’s demographics. He claimed that in 19 assembly constituencies, infiltrators make up more than 20% of the population. Sarma criticized the current administration for failing to address these issues effectively, and for labeling tribal youth as Naxalites while pursuing legal action against them. He also accused the government of being unduly influenced by Mamata Banerjee and remaining passive in the face of these challenges.
Sarma further criticized the Soren government for avoiding discussions on important matters such as job creation, unemployment allowances, and the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators. He warned that the future of Jharkhand’s youth is at stake if the current administration remains in power. Additionally, he condemned the Maiya scheme, alleging it is a scam where intermediaries are extorting money from applicants under the pretense of processing forms. He claimed that the state’s mothers and sisters are more interested in securing jobs for their family members than receiving small monetary benefits.
Sarma also accused Hemant Soren of owing the unemployed youth of Jharkhand significant amounts of money, asserting that this money is stuck in Soren's house and demanding interest for the delay. He concluded by declaring that the August 23 rally would pave the way for a transformation in Jharkhand and urged that the youth power would force Hemant Soren to resign from his position.
