Tata Trust Chairman and popular industrialist Ratan Tata has received the highest honour of Assam. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday to pay this honour to him as per the information received recently. Himanta Sarma also shared pictures of the same on Twitter after giving away the Assam Vaibhav Award to tata.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Sarma said that visionary industrialist and social activist Ratan Tata has made an incredible contribution to improving the treatment of cancer in Assam. I have had the privilege of honouring him with the Assam Vaibhav Award by coming to Mumbai. Ratan Tata has received citation, medal and Rs 5 lakh cash with this award. In fact, for the year 2021, 19 people were announced to be honoured with the Assam Vaibhav Puraskar last month. Last month, 18 people were given the honour at a function held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on January 24. Ratan Tata was not able to go to Guwahati due to personal reasons, due to which Chief Minister Sarma personally reached Mumbai and gave him respect.

Earlier, Tata had written a letter to Chief Minister Sarma for not being able to go to Guwahati. 'I am overwhelmed by the Assam government's decision to confer the Assam Vaibhav Award for the year 2021. I have been convinced of your personal commitment to the welfare of the people of Assam. That makes it even more special to get this honour from you. I am grateful to you for understanding my personal problem of not being able to come to Guwahati and for your willingness to come to Mumbai later and honour me.''
