According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out early Friday morning. The fire is considered to have originated in a tailoring shop in the market, with a short circuit being the major reason.

Locals say that the fire might have been put out if firefighters had arrived a bit earlier. The fire was put out with the help of four fire trucks. However, at least 11 shops were damaged, resulting in a loss of between Rs 1-1.5 crore.
